A Kelty man with a “massive issue with alcohol” has been jailed for a series of offences involving spitting at police.
Dean Chappell, 33, of Union Street, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court by video-link from prison.
He previously admitted that on February 28, 2021 at The Grove, Kelty, he assaulted a police officer by spitting on her body. Then at The Grove and Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, he assaulted a second officer by spitting on him.
He further admitted that on July 28 last year at Kings Bar, Main Street, Kelty, he assaulted a police officer by repeatedly spitting on her.
Last December he was put on a community payback order for the offences but has since breached it.
Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said his client has had “a massive issue with alcohol”.
He went on: “He binge drinks for days, if not weeks, on end. At one point he was drinking hand sanitiser because he couldn’t get anything else.”
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis revoked the community payback order and jailed Chappell for ten months.
