A 30-year-old man’s return home to Kelty for a night out turned out to be an expensive visit.
Marc Davidson punched a man in a pub argument and has been ordered to pay £1500 in compensation.
Davidson, of Hayfield, Edinburgh, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He admitted that on September 3, 2021, at The Kings public house, Main Street, Kelty, he assaulted a man by punching him on the head, causing him to fall and strike his head on the ground, all to his severe injury.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said Davidson walked towards the man on the dance floor and punched him to the face, causing him to fall, striking his head.
The victim had gone to hospital for treatment to a broken nose and burst lip.
Defence solicitor Aime Allan said her client is originally from Kelty but has moved away from the area. He had returned home that night and did not know the other man.
He had believed the man had said to him: “Let’s go then, let’s dance,” and took this to be a challenge to fight.
“This is extremely out of character for him,” she added. “He’s embarrassed to be in court for losing his temper in a manner like this.”
Sheriff Garry Sutherland ordered Davidson to pay £1500 compensation to the victim.
