COWDENBEATH Rotary Club was treated to an excellent wartime presentation by Cardenden historian, John Bald, at Thursday’s meeting.
“A passionate and emotional portrayal of what soldiers endured during both world wars,” said club president, John Gilfillan.
He added: "John’s enthusiasm and inspiration clearly coming from his late father, Joe Bald, who was one of those brave soldiers who fought valiantly amongst those during the Normandy landings on D Day.”
Also on display was the vast amount of wartime memorabilia collected by John throughout the years, ranging from medals, uniforms, newspapers cuttings, the many designs of helmets worn by different armies, and even weapons of war, such an interesting exhibition, almost bringing alive the atmosphere of that period.
Club member, Jim Muir, offered a gracious and heartfelt vote of thanks to John, acknowledging the efforts behind his presentation, which was met by a hearty applause.
