A PACKED season in the Springtime shows in Central Fife is promising to beat the winter blues for theatre goers.
OnFife, also known as Fife Cultural Trust, has announced its line-up of upcoming events which includes crowd-pleasing classic musicals, comedians and tribute acts.
Lochgelly Centre will kick things off with a performance from Danielle Law School of Dance and Music, which is titled Musical Moments in March.
The show will involve students aged between three and 18 showcasing a variety of disciplines including highland dance, contemporary dance, vocals and piano with songs from well-known musicals.
And the musical theatre theme will continue with Day at Night: The Doris Day Songbook, a celebration of the life of the American actress.
And getting in on the Sister Act will be Lochgelly and District Amateur Musical Association, who will bring a production of the hit movie to the stage.
Nardone’s Academy of Performing Arts will follow that with some Disney magic at the venue in May with Frozen Jr, an adaptation of the modern-day classic for younger performers, with brand-new music from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, writers of Let It Go.
And in June the Lochgelly-based company will transport audiences Somewhere Over the Rainbow with a run of The Wizard of Oz.
Also to look forward to is the Fife Brass Band Festival, and entertainment competition, and music from the last six decades with The Magic Drifters, the original soul men who promise "slick routines, smooth talking and plenty of lovin'". Their brand new tour show includes classic hits such as ‘Saturday Night At The Movies', ‘Under the Boardwalk’, Kissin In The Back Row’, ‘Stand By Me' and many more.
Karen Taylor, OnFife programme manager, said: “It’s been fantastic welcoming back audiences in recent months after all the disruption, so it’s great to keep things going with our new Spring programme.
“Spring season is always eagerly anticipated at OnFife, and, having lost out these past three years, 2023 promises to be an especially joyful time for our audiences.”
