A COWDENBEATH funeral director remarked that he was almost lost for words after winning a prestigious award for the second year running.
Colin Sneddon was recently crowned Funeral Director of the Year for Fife at the Prestige Awards.
Speaking to the Times after recording back-to-back wins, he said: "We didn't think this would ever happen for us.
"To win such an award two years in a row, it really did come as a bit of a shock to us. We couldn't believe it or know what to say.
"We are still a relatively new funeral company, but we understand that we must be doing something right for families to keep voting for us.
"It is very rewarding to know that we are doing the best job we can to help families at such a difficult time. "It is a job we love doing and we don't do this to get awards, but being recognised in this industry is a fantastic achievement for us.
"We are always learning new things in this trade, but this award makes us want to improve as well. We are always learning and striving to improve.
"Every family has different needs and different aspects that they want, and it is our job and honour to give them that."
The Times told you last year that the business on Station Road won the same award last year and once again the community's reaction has touched both Colin and his partner Kelly McGovern.
"We want to thank everyone who has supported us," Colin said.
"It does mean everything to us.
"The community spirit in Cowdenbeath and in the surrounding area is all about local businesses doing well for themselves. That shows with how everyone has reacted online to the news of our award.
"It's a privilege for us to be a part of. It's also a privilege to ensure the families who come to us are given the send off their loved ones deserve."
The business was also recognised as a finalist in three categories at this year's Scottish Funeral Awards.
