A MEMORIAL bench built in memory of a beloved Benarty dog is to be unveiled this weekend.
James McShane's gorgeous boy Danny, a seven-year-old yellow Labrador, was laid to rest in April this year.
Hundreds of tributes flooded in on Benarty Matters, the Facebook page that provided a platform for James and Danny to entertain others and bring smiles to faces.
In photos, and through his master's voice, Danny's thought bubbles would provide commentary on local issues with a charming sense of humour.
An online fundraiser was launched by Derek Davidson after Danny's passing, with £873 donated.
The bench will now be sited next to the entrance for Fairy Wood at Lochore Meadows.
James told the Times this week: "We are blown away by how much people thought of and cared about Danny.
"The whole family are overwhelmed and so grateful.
"To Derek, Ian Bruce and his guys for giving up their time and labour, and to all who donated or sent good wishes.
"It will be put in a very fitting place where we spent so many happy times together; and a place I grew up and played as a youngster long before the regeneration.
"It will be a place for my family and friends to go and have a wee seat and thought for years to come.
"We honestly can't thank the people of the community enough.
"We are still lost without him but the support, good wishes and kindness is very humbling."
The unveiling will be made at Noon on Saturday with locals invited to attend.
