LOCHGELLY High School's acting headteacher will remain in post until the end of the academic year.
In a letter to parents and carers, Fife Council stated that Lynn Porter will continue in her role until at least the end of June 2023.
The move has been made to "ensure ongoing continuity for the school community at this time".
The letter, written by Karen Lees, education manager, stated: "I am writing to update yourselves on the position of headteacher at Lochgelly High School.
"You previously received a letter from Shelagh McLean on 25 May 2022, regarding Mrs Lynn Porter continuing with the role of acting headteacher.
"I am pleased to inform you that Mrs Porter will remain in post as acting headteacher until at least the end of June 2023.
"This will ensure ongoing continuity for the school community at this time.
"Mrs Porter is delighted to have this opportunity to continuing leading the school and is very much enjoying working with the school community; she is delighted to continue supporting the school on its ongoing improvement journey.
"The Education Service will continue to support Mrs Porter in her role as acting headteacher and will keep you informed of the next steps in relation to the appointment of a permanent headteacher."
