FORMER Prime Minister Gordon Brown will officially open a Lochgelly builders’ merchant's new display tomorrow (Friday).
He'll be visiting the new home of Cartmore Building Supply Company Ltd, who moved there in May last year as part of the Purvis Group's relocation to the former Andrews Antenna / CommScope premises at The Avenue.
Mr Brown will open the new hard landscaping display, covering 1,000 square metres, which will provide the construction sector and public a source of ideas and inspiration for jobs of all sizes.
And they'll also celebrate with two days of entertainment, food and drink and special offers, with a fundraising raffle for Rachel House Children's Hospice in Kinross.
The former PM said: "I am delighted to celebrate the opening of the new Cartmore Landscaping display which will undoubtedly be another successful venture for the company, building on their successful move to new premises last May.
"I would also like congratulate Bob Purvis and all directors and staff at the Purvis Group for their contribution to jobs in the local economy, and their many charitable endeavours which help so many local people."
To mark the occasion, on Friday from 11am to 4pm there will be catering, including a hog roast, entertainment from Big Al Entertainment and supplier stalls, as well as the charity raffle.
On Saturday, from 9.30am to 3pm, there will also be Cobbler the Clown and Freedom facepainting, with special guest, radio personality Jay Crawford, who recently acquired Edge Radio.
Cartmore director Gordon Banks, a former MP for Ochil and South Perthshire, said: “It is a great privilege to have Gordon open our new display and I believe that all our visitors on both Friday and Saturday will agree that this new display is market leading and inspirational.
"It will be a great addition to our services at our Lochgelly depot and will undoubtedly provide inspiration to many projects moving forward."
He added: "We are indebted to our partners who have supported us in this venture and these businesses, and their products are the cream of the landscaping sector, and we are proud to be associated with them.
"A big thank you however must also go to Gregor Ramsay of Paveco Ltd and Lee of Lee Ramsay Paving whose foresight, ability and sheer brilliance can be seen in our exciting display.”
