A MUM has secured a flight to Mexico for treatment to tackle her extremely rare incurable cancer.

Stephanie Scullion, from Castlemilk, is heading to Tijuana next week for laser treatment to battle her sarcoma which will cost around £60,000.

It comes after the 36-year-old was left devastated when she found out her heartburn, back pain, and indigestion had been symptoms of cancer in 2020, just before lockdown.

The condition normally affects bones and soft tissue however tragically the cancer has taken over her left lung and is now attached to her heart.

It means she can now never be free of the cruel illness, but hopes laser treatment abroad at the Hope4Cancer centre will let her watch her seven-year-old daughter Savannah grow up.

She is going to Mexico for 21 days for the "multi-dimensional recovery" programme which will target the cancer through "non-toxic treatment plans", to improve her quality of life.

After extensive fundraising by Stephanie’s family she now just has £14,000 left to pay but has booked her flights for May 18.

She said: “The flights are booked. It was the last two plane tickets so we thought that was meant to be.

"I need this treatment in Mexico for my little girl. I’m just not ready to leave her.

“I can't put into words how grateful me, Savannah, and my whole family are.

“I could have never gotten this far without them, not just money-wise I mean in every way.

“There's far too many people to thank individually but I love you all.

“The aim was £60,000. We are just £14,000 short."

Stephanie previously told the Glasgow Times: “I want to stay around as long as possible to watch Savannah grow up but it costs £60,000.

“My whole world has just crumbled around me. I am so scared for my wee girl.

“I’m also angry this has happened to my family. Savannah is only seven. She doesn’t deserve to lose her mum.”

After a consultation with doctors, Stephanie was told they can offer and trial a range of laser therapies to target her cancer therefore improving her quality of life.

It comes after NHS doctors tried to remove her lung at the Golden Jubilee in Clydebank, but realised during the nine-hour operation she would not survive the procedure if they did so.

She had faced six gruelling months of chemotherapy to prepare her body for the surgery but was distraught to be told it was unsuccessful when she woke up after it.

Despite her heart-breaking situation, Stephanie is determined to stay positive for Savannah and won’t give up hope.

She has been left “overwhelmed” by pals who raised thousands to help her fight her cancer.

Friends and family have brought in around £13,000 recently with a special fundraiser at the King's Park Hotel in Glasgow that hosted a DJ, major prizes, and games.

Stephanie said: "I would also like to thank the other businesses who donated money including, Duries Bc, Little monsters inflatables, Mjs Cherished Occasions, Day to day Kyle square, Kings news, David cox butchers, Brighside homes, Top tech repairs, Desmond Maguire, Jones Whyte solicitors, Claim solutions Scotland, RPR skips, Ryan Plant hire LTD, Baba g, imoto X, Pam's.paws, Mia Bella, Scotty tours, and Davie Sneddon @Snap on tools."
