A NIGHT celebrating the life of a young man has raised an amazing £4,000 for a mental health charity and a memorial bench in his honour.
The Times previously told you that friends and family were set to gather at Lochore Institute on April 1 to remember Michael Blake.
The 21-year-old, who was brought up in Crosshill and had only moved to Ballingry just weeks before his death, tragically passed away on October 1 last year.
One of Michael's sisters, Michelle Coyle, told the Times that her brother was a "friend to everyone”, and a “happy-go-lucky guy who was always smiling”.
A Night for Michael was arranged in his memory, and Michelle said the fundraising event was a night that Michael himself would have loved.
She said: "It was an amazing night, and the place was heaving.
"To hear people telling stories about him, and seeing people smiling, it meant a lot to me, and to all of the family.
"It made me feel warm to see how much people loved him and how he touched so many lives.
"He would have loved it."
A total of £3,000 has been donated to Andy's Man Club, with a further £1,000 going towards purchasing a memorial bench that will be installed at Crosshill playpark in the future.
"I cannot believe we raised that amount of money," Michelle said.
"Everyone has been so generous, and we want to thank everyone for being like that.
"It was an overwhelming night, but seeing all of Michael's friends there and remembering him, it made us all feel very happy."
