A CLOSE call on a busy Fife road was averted yesterday after a trailer containing cattle overturned.

Police raced to the scene at around 2.40pm, where the vehicle had flipped on the A92 near Cowdenbeath.

Drivers were udder-ly unimpressed with the resultant tailbacks which lasted throughout the afternoon.

Police, the fire service, and the farmer all worked to "mooove" the animals to safety and the road was cleared just before 5pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.40pm on Wednesday, 13 April, police were called to the A92 Cowdenbeath interchange following a report of a crash involving a vehicle towing a trailer.

"The road was cleared around 4.55pm."

They also confirmed that no injuries were reported, to humans or cattle.

A tweet from Road Policing Scotland said: "#FifeRP helped "mooove" these big guys yesterday when the vehicle they were in overturned on the A92. Luckily no serious injuries to humans or cattle & no persons at fault.

Great team work between us, @fire_scot & the farmer to clear the carriageway safely."

Three fire vehicles attended the scene to help move the cattle to safety.  A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.42pm on Wednesday, April 13 to reports of a collision involving a vehicle towing a trailer on the A92 southbound between Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and firefighters assisted emergency service partners by removing one bull and two cows from a trailer and placing them in a position of safety.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
