AN AWARD-WINNING bakery and farmshop in Central Fife faces an uncertain future as it shuts its doors until further notice.
Woodlea Stables, located just to the south of Crossgates, announced on Facebook that they will be closing their premises from March 28 for a "programme of refurbishment" and it's not clear if and when it will re-open.
The post explained: "We are sincerely sorry to have to taken the difficult decision to close, but we will be unable to operate during this time.
"Although it is unclear what will take shape, change has become necessary for us and the business."
The bakery business at Woodlea Stables has undergone work in the past, expanding by converting sheds on the property into a cafe/coffee shop, sales area, kitchen and stores and adding an agricultural shed in 2020 after they faced a rising demand from customers.
The popular farmshop sold award-winning bread – winning the 'champion' loaf category in the Royal Highland Show two years in a row – and free range eggs, as well as other baked treats and cheese, and it's sure to be missed by its loyal customers.
The post continued: "We would like to take this moment to sincerely thank all our customers over the last 10 years.
"We particularly thank those who have supported us and our bread-making from the very beginning, and everyone who made a weekly visit to Woodlea an important part of their lives.
"The whole team at Woodlea, past and present, remain so grateful of your support, enthusiasm and appreciation of all the many things that took place here.
"We hope you can continue to support us as we operate as normal throughout March and to give us the opportunity to say 'thank you' to you all in person."
