A LOCAL builders merchant has been nominated for an influential industry award.
John Wardrope, director of the Lochgelly-based Cartmore Building Supplies, is among the nominees.
John is one of eight builders’ merchants from across Scotland who go the extra mile to support their communities are in contention.
National trade body, the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) and Builders’ Merchants News (BMN) have joined forces to identify the Top 100 Merchant Influencers across the sector and celebrate their achievements.
Speaking on his deserved nomination for the award, John commented: “Cartmore are committed to doing our best for our customers.
“Service and good relationships are fundamental in what we do as we understand our role in our customers’ supply chains is vital to allow them to operate efficiently.
“We have grown significantly since being formed in 1986 but have never forgotten the importance of meeting the needs of our customers.”
The merchants included on the list will feature in a commemorative brochure and be invited to a Gala Dinner celebration and networking event at the Belfry in May.
John Newcomb BMF CEO said: “We’re bringing together the people whose activities and commitment make a difference to others, whether that’s through work with trade organisations and buying groups, a presence on social media, charity work or working altruistically for the benefit of the wider building materials industry.
“We aim to shine a spotlight on the work they are doing and salute their achievements.”
Lucyanne Matthews, BMN’s Associate Publisher, also commented: “From the energy and enthusiasm merchants in Scotland bring to their local and national charitable work, to the evidence that we are seeing with the new Construction Leadership Council’s CO2nstruct Zero Business Champions, merchants are an influential part of their communities.”
