Cardenden community champion, the late Willie Duncan, was recently remembered at a special event held in the village.
Willie, who was a long-time member of the village community council, the John Thomson Committee, the Village Fair Committee, and other groups, was remembered originally by the creation of Dunc’s View, which overlooks a village beauty spot.
Now, through fundraising work by Linda Beveridge and friends, a special bench was unveiled at the nearby small garden.
During Friday’s event Willie was kindly remembered by the words of local councillors Linda Erskine and Rosemary Liewald, the respective chair and vice chair of Cowdenbeath Area Committee.
They recalled how Willie had worked so hard in the village over many years, helping make sure the Village Fair took place, the Community Bonfire and Fireworks Display happened and the John Thomson football competition annually occurred.
Willie’s close friend, Alex Burns, said: “It really was a very nice event on Friday and all of Willie’s community work was touched on.”
A buffet at the Corrie Community Centre followed the unveiling of the bench, organised by Cath Reilly.
