Fourteen Fife restaurants feature in the AA restaurant guide 2022, detailing some of the best food spots in the UK. 

Among them is The Restaurant and Acanthus at the Forrester Park resort in Cairneyhill.

The 2022 release marks the book's 28th edition, with each copy rounding up the best restaurants by county across Britain, alongside detailed descriptions of the location and sample menus. 

Restaurants can be awarded 1-5 rosettes by inspectors, and while no Fife venues received the prestigious five rosettes, a few did win three.

The Cellar - Anstruther

Three rosettes 

Offering modern Scottish cooking within a nine course tasting menu, dishes like smoked mussel with seaweed and lemon, heritage potato, Arbroath smokie and lovage and set hay cream, apple and marigold are sure to please diners.

The Restaurant and Acanthus - Cairneyhill

This restaurant has two dining rooms which both offer the same set-price menu within the converted Scottish mansion. 

Ostlers Close Restaurant - Cupar

Two rosettes

This popular restaurant uses produce from the garden and wild mushrooms from local woods to create their delicious menus. 

The Ship Inn - Elie

One rosette

With a beachside beer garden and cricket matches on the beach, this tavern offers everything, including an "unfussy" menu with "splendid" local seafood. 

The Newport Restaurant - Newport-on-Tay

Two rosettes

The chef behind this venue, Jamie Scott, boasts a Masterchef trophy, having won the professional competition in 2014 - his reaturant offers "pin-sharp" contemporary cooking. 

The Peat Inn - Pete Inn

Three rosettes

Established in the mid-18th century, The Peat Inn has long maintained its position among the best restaurants in Scotland. 

The guide suggests starting with warm St Andrews Bay lobster with romesco sauce, cauliflower pannacotta and sea herbs, before a main of roast crown and smoked legs of Scottish partridge, with young parsnips, spiced Puy lentils and thyme and cider velouté.

For pudding, why not try a mille feuille of lemon posset and blackberries with an intense lemongrass and chilli and ginger sorbet.

This restaurant is located near the 18th green of the famous golf course and has been described as "bustling and welcoming". 

Road Hole Restaurant - St Andrews

Three rosettes

Situated in the famous Old Golf Course hotel, the restaurant specialises in traditional Scottish cooking using luxury ingredients.

Expect dishes like cullen skink, braised pork belly with langoustine, apple, baby spinach, and pancetta, or rump of Scotch lamb with confit thyme potatoes.

This family-owned mansion offers modern cooking surrounded by beautiful gardens. 

St Andrews Bar and Grill - St Andrews
