A FIFE sailor has been dismissed from the Royal Navy after admitting three charges of sexual assault.

Able Seaman Jodie McSkimmings appeared before a court martial in Bulford, England, for sentencing.

She had pleaded guilty to the three sexual assault offences as well as a charge of battery and one of using violence against a superior officer.

After considering a GP's report and pre-sentence report, Judge Advocate Alastair McGrigor sentenced AB McSkimmings, who had been based on HMS Neptune, to dismissal from HM Services.

He also placed her on a Service Community Order for 11 months requiring her to do 120 hours of unpaid work and undergo a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement up to a maximum of 20 hours.

In August 2016, McSkimmings, then a Royal Navy reservist, had been presented with a top award for her achievements in training.

Able Rate McSkimmings, then 26, completed a course at the Defence Maritime Logistics School, based at HMS Raleigh, and passed with an overall course mark of 98 per cent.

As a result, the former Inverkeithing High School pupil earned the Inchcape Trophy after coming through the intensive 12 days on the first professional logistics career course undertaken by Royal Naval Reserve logisticians.

As reported at the time, McSkimmings joined up as a reservist in 2014, and became a full-time member of the HMS Scotia Royal Navy Reserve unit in August 2015.

She worked previously as a payroll and accounts administrator.
