SATURDAY August 17 sees the third Rockore return to Lochore Meadows Country Park and more than 3,000 tickets have been sold for this festival.
It has went from strength to strength each year and got bigger and better to boot. The first Rockore saw 1,600 attend this year The Benarty Events Group have sold out the concert with a bumper 3,500 tickets being sold.
"Sadly when events sell out like this there will always be people who couldn’t get tickets for many different reasons. Next year is another year and with the festival growing, the capacity may increase and there will be additions to make Rockore better. We are open to any suggestions,” said Events Group chairman Eddie Easson.
Preparations for Rockore are well advanced. The line up for Rockore III is a mixture of all genres of music, it is the same with the audience a mixture of all ages.
The headline band is The South. When great British pop institution, The Beautiful South, split in 2007, some members of the band didn’t feel ready to hang up their microphones or instruments just yet…
Two years later, singers Dave Hemingway and Alison Wheeler, alongside life long members Damon Butcher (keys), Gaz Birtles (sax) and Tony Robinson (trumpet), came out of retirement and formed the 9 piece band, The South.
Next in line are Bad Manners. Bad Manners are an English two-tone and ska band led by frontman Buster Bloodvessel.
Early appearances included Top of The Pops and the live film documentary, Dance Craze. They were at their most popular during the early 1980s, during a period when other ska revival bands such as Madness, the Specials and the Selecter filled the charts. Bad Manners spent 111 weeks in the UK Singles Chart between 1980 and 1983,
Added Eddie: "Last year we had the top tribute to Queen, Magic Queen, this year we the renowned Killers tribute band The Fillers.
"The Fillers are the world’s first and best tribute to The Killers. Formed in late 2006 in the small town of fabulous Bury St. Edmunds in the UK, where The Killers had their initial success, having interacted with the Killers themselves at close quarters they have captured an unrivalled sound, look and feel of the Vegas quartet, performing tracks from Hot Fuss, Sam's Town, Sawdust, Day & Age, Battleborn and Wonderful Wonderful".
Also on stage will be local band The Other Side with local Benarty boys Tam Kirby, Michael Sneddon, Pep and Budgie Crowe. The band have a fantastic following all over Scotland.
Eddie went on: "We welcome next Oskar Braves to Rockore. Oskar Braves are a 5 piece explosive alternative rock band hailing from Dunfermline.
"Also on the bill are 80’s synthetic band Party Fear Three, a tribute to The Human League, Love Distraction. The fantastic Simple Minded pay tribute to Simple Minds.
"Last but not least, to complete a great line up we have our very own Joe’s Band. Sadly this will be the last Rockore the band will play. Band frontman Joe McCormack recently announced his intended retirement after decades in the music world. Joe will sadly be missed.
“This will be poignant set from Joe tinged with sadness and I’m sure the big crowd will give him a brilliant farewell.
“We have made a few changes made this year to the event with stage being moved and the food village and bar being relocated. There will also be more toilet facilities. Security has also been stepped up."
Bar sales will once again be tokens only, and token sales will cease at 8.15pm, the bar will close at 9.00pm prompt.
The Events Group hope that everyone who attends the festival has a fantastic time, safe in the knowledge that all proceeds goes right back into events in the Benarty area.
Concluded Eddie: "We urge people to respect each other at the festival. Safety is a priority.
"We hope the sun will shine for Rockore but as Glastonbury stalwart Michael Eaves says: “ A festival isn’t a festival without wellies and warm beer, anything else is a bonus.”
The Benarty Events Group looks forward to meeting up with old friends and new friends they haven’t met.
