THE magnificent fundraising work which has allowed Cowdenbeath Rotary Club to back good causes at local, national and international level, saw the rotary movement's highest accolade bestowed upon a local lady on Thursday.
Marie Shevas' work for the club organising a variety of events has seen well over £60,000 raised for the charities fund.
Marie, who runs Moorelands Travel, in the town, received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award at Thursday night's meeting.
Said club president, Yolanda Hilton: "Marie has done the most amazing fundraising work for the club which has allowed it to back a host of important local causes but also so many international things like the Shelter Box Appeal, to help give people accommodation at international disasters like the earthquake which hit Nepal.
"Her Ladies Day events have been particularly successful and while being good fundraisers these also allowed people to to have a brilliant afternoon out.
"Without Marie's efforts the club could not have done so much in supporting causes so she is a very worthy winner of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award."
