A MAN who grabbed his partner's neck in an argument in Cowdenbeath told police he "lost his rag".
Christopher Davies, 31, of no fixed abode, previously admitted that on May 30 at Factory Road, Cowdenbeath he assaulted his partner, seized hold of her, pinned her to the bed and seized her by the neck.
Also, on June 12 he failed to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and having been granted bail on July 3 on the condition that he did not contact or attempt to contact his partner he, did on July 8, enter Factory Road, Cowdenbeath, and failed without reasonable excuse to comply with said condition.
Depute fiscal, Alistair McDermott, explained that there had been a fall-out between Davies and his partner on May 30.
"The complainer was in the accused's face shouting at him," Mr McDermott said.
"He grabbed her neck and threatened her in response to her shouting at him."
Davies told police: "I admit I lost my rag and grabbed her but I did not hit her".
Regarding the breach of bail, Mr McDermott explained that the pair were found "happily" in each other's company.
Defence solicitor, Danielle Varela, explained that the assault had not been planned.
"There had been an argument about finance the previous day," she said.
"He felt he was treading on eggshells the next day. He wanted to clear the air but he felt she was burying her head in the sand.
"The incident was short-lived. He picked up his belongings after and left.
"Mr Davies understands that the complainer would likely have been frightened."
She added: "As a result, he made himself homeless.
"He had hostel accommodation but he has had a long-standing addiction and found himself relapsing there.
"He ended up in a chaotic situation sofa surfing and he lost track of the Court date.
"He had started work as an accountant assistant but that stopped after his arrest.
"But he persuaded his employer to give him another chance.
"He is still hopeful that he can get things on track with this relationship."
Sheriff Paul Reid had in mind to impose 12 months of supervision but deferred sentence until August 14 so Davies could provide an address to the Court.
