THE value of support from the Benarty Community Fund can be seen by the public at a special event being held later this month.
Community groups, charities, volunteers and local residents are invited to go along to a celebration event on Wednesday August 21, 6:30pm at the Benarty Centre, to find out more about the Benarty Community Fund, which awards grants from income generated from the Westfield Wind Farm, operated by Ventient Energy.
The event will showcase the successes of awardees to the fund and allow people to meet the Community Fund Panel who are responsible for making decision on applications.
There will also be an opportunity for groups to network and find out more about what’s happening locally.
The panel would especially like to encourage groups who have never applied to the fund to go along to the event and find out more.
The fund is administered by Foundation Scotland who, alongside the community panel, will be on hand to answer questions, offer support with the application process and explain the funding criteria.
Stephen Nardone, a Benarty Community Fund Panel member: said: “The good thing about the fund is that it’s solely to benefit people living in the area and the people who make decisions are people who reside here - it’s not a national fund and the process is fairly straightforward”.
The fund is open to applications from constituted groups based in or benefitting residents in Benarty with grants of between £500 and £2,000.
The next deadline date to apply for funding is September 14 2019.
