THE vagaries of the changing weather patterns were never more underlined than this past week.
Unbelievably warm weather in midweek changed in the early hours of Saturday to torrential rain.
It did pose real problems for the organisers of Lumphinnans Fun Day but they managed to get things organised to ensure that the village was able to have its community day.
At times on Saturday morning the rain was particularly heavy but it gradually eased after lunchtime and the use of a marquee meant that people could have some fun.
With temperatures reaching upwards of 30 degrees centigrade on Wednesday and Thursday it meant that things were really oppressive at times during the day.
Later on Thursday the weather broke with thunderstorms hitting the area and it provided some good photo opportunities.
Karen Hunter was at Lochore Meadows Country Park when one of the storms broke and she said: "There were quite a few electric storms caused by the hot weather and I caught this shot the Meedies as storm clouds blanked out the sun."
There was no thunder at Lumphinnans but plenty of rain as the weather posed problems for the Fun Day organisers but they were not for given up.
On Sunday it was Bark at the Park day at Lochore Meadows when the Second Chance Kennels invite dog owners from all over Scotland to have a great day at the Meedies.
The weather was better on Sunday and the event went ahead although the heavy rain of Saturday did make a few bits of the park a little soft.
However, the activities that were planned went off well with well over 2,000 people taking part and enjoying a great day.
With the football season now in full swing the fans that went to the matches involving Kelty Hearts, Hill of Beath Hawthorn and the derby game at Moorside Park involving Dundonald Bluebell and Crossgates Primrose were armed with brollies which meant the games had more of an autumn look rather than the last Saturday in July!
