THE link between Benarty and the Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy, is being restored in August through bus operators Bay Travel.
The R34 was discontinued by Stagecoach in August 2016 and it led to people from the Ballingry either needing to go to the Vic for outpatient appointments or for visiting purposes, having to find alternative methods of getting to Kirkcaldy which would involve two bus changes.
However, from August 19 Bay Travel are extending their '13' service.
Said Bay's Mel Douglas: "The 13 route currently goes from West Wemyss to the Fife Central Retail Park at Chapel Level, but we have decided to extended it to take in Ballingry.
"This follows representations from the likes of Benarty Community Council who feel that senior citizens especially have found difficulties in getting to the Victoria Hospital.
"It will be an hourly service which will run from Monday to Friday each week."
Mel added that there will be a special visit from Bay staff to Ballingry on the week running up to the start of the service to allow people to get full details of the new Ballingry to Kirkcaldy service.
