ONE of Cowdenbeath FC's stalwart fans has passed away leaving everyone at Central Park feeling great sadness.

Billy Ramsay, a former publican in the town, has followed the Blue Brazil through all their good days and their bad, but never lost his love for the club.

Club director David Allan said on Monday: "Today the very sad news has reached us of the passing of one or our most loyal fans, Billy Ramsay.

"Billy will be well-known to very many of our followers and he was long-time a familiar face at Central Park.

"He was also mine host, along with his wife Mary, at the Woodside Hotel, in Broad Street, for many years from 1971 onwards – there was always a warm welcome for Cowden fans at the Woodside".

Added David: "Sadly, Mary passed away a few years ago. Billy was a lifelong Cowden fan and in recent years, when he had difficulty walking distances, we were delighted to arrange for him to have his own parking spot inside the ground at Central Park so he could continue supporting the Blue Brazil.

"Billy’s support and dedication to our club was really second to none and we would wish to pass on our sincere condolences at this very sad time to all of Billy’s family and friends – from everyone here at Central Park and all of Billy’s fellow fans.

"He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him and we warmly remember the great pleasure he had in following his team – Cowdenbeath FC".
