AS you can see by Keir and Malcolm's faces' they were more than happy to get stuck into some vegetable planting....

This and so much more was a central part of Cardenden Environment Group's entry into the Beautiful Fife Awards and the visit from the judges.....

The group are run solely by local members of the community who give up there own time regardless of abilities to volunteer and help make the village the best that the community deserves..

Said the Group's Vicky Murdoch: "Along the way we have managed to inspire others to do just that...young and some not so young members of our community have joined us along the way and for that we are ever so grateful.

"We want Cardenden to look and feel like home.... with that in mind and with a lot of hard work the village is looking the best it has for a long time... yes there are areas that still need some work...and the group are working on that..."

On Wednesday July 17 members of the Group were visited by the Beautiful Fife judges who were given a short tour of the village ending in Ore Valley Housing's 'Hub' for some light refreshments....but no one will know the results of this until sometime in September....

Added Vicky: "However, they did note that they can see a big difference in the Community Garden and it is looking the best that it has over previous years..."

The Group would like to thank everyone who has donated to the cause as these funds go towards paying for the floral enhancements... they would also like to thank Fife Council for the contribution of pole mounted and barrier baskets and to Ross and Maggie at Lady Helen Nurseries who volunteered to help and donated over £300 worth of flowers and manpower to the task.

Volunteers are still continuing to meet within the Community Garden every Monday and Wednesday am and a Tuesday evening...and would welcome anyone to join them.
