2019 has turned out to be an amazing year for a Crosshill businesswoman, winner of the title Scotland's Beauty Therapist of the Year.
The thing is that Marie McFarlane did not know she was in line for the major Scottish accolade.
Marie and Claire Small opened MirrorMirror, on Main Street, last autumn and the business has been on the up and up.
Claire and Marie are delighted to be able to which offer top quality hairdressing and top quality beauty advice and treatment.
And Marie's beauty advice has been getting around, she said: "I got a call at the salon to say that such had been the volume of public votes cast that I had a chance of being one of the nominations for the title Scotland's Beauty Therapist of the Year.
"I did not know whether to believe it or not but then I was invited to the big finale at the Marriott's Hotel, in Glasgow, on June 30 where the winner would be announced.
"To be even in the frame for such an award was an honour for me and 11 of us went through that night for the awards evening.
"To be honest winning was the last thing on my mind, just being there was unbelievable and when my name was announced as the winner I simply could not believe it.
"It was simply fantastic but I know that by winning the award it can open a lot of doors for myself and MirrorMirror".
She added: "There are a lot of services that have not been there for me before this moment but winning the award will gave me a chance to tap into these and our customers will be the people to benefit."
Marie explained that she had run her beauty treatment business from home for 14 years before the chance popped up in October to open MirrorMirror in Crosshill with Claire and the duo have not looked back.
Added Marie: "It has been a fantastic opportunity for both of us and the support of our customers has been really amazing.
"This award will mean that I have to look at how to keep developing what new beauty treatments we can offer and look to see if we can feature in the awards next year."
