THE special day to herald the facilities offered to the people of Cowdenbeath by the Maxwell Centre was a huge success.
Well over 400 people attended the event which was to showcase the Centre and the work that is done within, the Stenhouse Street facility.
There were stalls from Fife College, Fast Start Scotland, and People who paint – an art group based in the centre. Also involved was the Happy Days Club providing music and had a tombola stall.
Community Education Worker Mike Payne did a stall promoting the youth work done at the Centre and adult education.
Love to Dance performed on the day and went down really well. We also had a bouncy castle.
There was a face painter who was extremely busy from start to finish.
Other activities included design your own cup cake with Vicky Kinloch, arts and crafts, a photo booth.
In the IT room staff started off informing people of the courses they have on offer and demonstrating how to use a PC but ended up teaching some adults how to do the Floss Dance!!! The way they did this was to show videos on the huge interactive screen that there is in the IT room.
Mike Payne said “We had a great day here in the Maxwell Centre and I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make it the great success it was, especially my colleague, Maureen Walker.
"The Centre staff worked very hard to make sure the centre looked its best. I’d like to thank everyone and every organisation that came to the event and I’d like to say a big thank you to the people of Cowdenbeath, and beyond, who came along on the day.”
