PLANS have been lodged for a new nursery centre in Lochgelly.
Fife Council education and Children's Services have lodged plans for the proposed new nursery centre with associated landscaping at the former
Lochgelly North School, 6 McGregor Avenue.
The site has been empty for quite a long time, since the closure of the North which catered for children with special needs.
The proposals have come as the council recognises the continuing rise in Lochgelly's population which is bound to put pressure on the spaces that are in the nurseries like the Sunflower and at the town's primary schools.
The new facility is expected to be in place by 2020 which would be around the same time that the new housing estate on the eastern edge of the town is nearing completion.
Lochgelly will see over 100 new homes built over the next 12 months adding upwards of 300 to the town's growing population.
