HOUSEHOLDERS throughout the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area are being urged to go online to easily access their bin calendar for 2017/19.
Bin calendars are available online now.
Rather than delivering a paper copy of bin calendars to all households across the Kingdom, Fife Council is keeping costs down and reducing the impact on the environment by hosting them online.
The online bin calendar allows all residents to enter their postcode to check the dates of their future bin day collections, and features the option of printing off a handy calendar.
Simply enter your postcode to check your next collection date and the bins being collected.
Once you have selected your property, you can download a copy of your calendar, or print it out. Local people can check their bin collection dates online by visiting www.fifedirect.org.uk/bincalendar Internet users across Fife are increasingly using their phones, tablets and computers for surfing online, sending and receiving email, and buying goods or services. From online banking to using social networking sites, people are increasingly using digital technology to access information or carry out transactions on an anytime, anywhere basis, and reduce the cost of paper bills.
Fife Council offers information and services online to help make life easier for local people.
Cllr Ross Vettraino, convener for the Environment, Protective Services & Community Safety Committee, said: "Fife Council have a very good reputation for recycling, and are reducing our impact on the environment and saving precious resources by asking people, wherever possible, to access their bin calendar online.
"This easy-to-use online calendar will help us all do our bit for a cleaner, greener Fife."
He added: "With new calendars being available, now is the perfect time to print off a copy of the calendar, bookmark the page or take a screenshot of the page so you know exactly when to put each bin out."
Fifers can also visit www.fifedirect.org.uk/bincalendar and sign-up for email alerts by entering their postcode and email address. Sign up to receive an email before a new bin calendar is available, or if your bin collection day changes. Signing up is quick and easy -visit www.fifedirect.org.uk/bincalendar By hosting bin calendars online, and not printing them out in hard copy on a Fife-wide basis, Fife Council is set to save over £20,000 per year that could be spent on other services.
If you do not have access to a computer, tablet or smartphone you can visit your local library, where computers are available to print your bin calendar. Staff at Fife’s libraries are able to help you with this.
Householders needing a bin calendar in an alternative format, such as braille, can continue to receive these by calling the Recycling Helpline on 03451 55 00 22.
