A 27-year-old man punched his former partner in the street after she said she did not want to rekindle their relationship.

Police were called to the scene and found Kyle McCormack hiding in the woman’s attic.

McCormack, of Waverley Place, Lochore, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing for a series of offences he had admitted.

He breached bail conditions when he contacted his former partner and entered Craigside Road, Cardenden, on August 17 and 18 last year.

On August 18 at Westfield Terrace, Cardenden, he assaulted his former partner by repeatedly punching her on the head and body to her injury.

The same day at Craigside Road he assaulted a police officer by striking him with a loft hatch and attempting to hit him on the head with a paint pot.

He also resisted two police officers and struggled violently with them.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said the four-year relationship had ended in June last year.

In August McCormack had visited her home and became angry when she said she did not want to rekindle their relationship.

The woman left the house and was followed into the street by McCormack who was shouting behind her and then attacked her.

Residents in the street heard her screaming and one woman banged on her window which resulted in McCormack running off.

Police officers were called to the scene and found the victim “extremely upset”.

She said McCormack had taken the keys to her house and the officers found him there hiding in the attic.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said: “Because of his alcohol consumption his recollection of this is not very good.”

Sheriff Garry Sutherland imposed a community payback order with two years of supervision and 180 hours of unpaid work.

He also imposed a three-year non-harassment order.
