Former student Scott Hastie is the new station manager for Fife College’s first student radio station, Boom Radio.
He completed the HND Creative Industries: Radio course in 2013 and then gained a Master’s in Radio at the University of Sunderland.
Scott is confident the station will be a great success and said: “The aim of Boom Radio is to give students at Fife College a voice, to share all the great things that they are doing and achieving.
"It is also a great way for students to get involved in an extra-curricular activity and develop a variety of different skills.”
During his time at Sunderland, Scott was given the responsibility of running the award-winning student radio, Spark FM.
And he'll bring the experience and skills he learned on Wearside to the creative industries department at Fife College.
He's been working with students and staff to bring Boom Radio to life since August 2016 and it's now on air.
Students have been given the opportunity to assist Scott with the day-to-day running of the station and gain valuable hands-on training.
Outside of Boom Radio, he works as a music officer for the Student Radio Association, the national representative body for student radio stations, and also lectures in the creative industries department at the college.
Students and staff are able to access Boom Radio through an online Fife College student area.
Applications for college courses starting in August 2017 are now open. For more information go to fife.ac.uk or call 0344 248 0115.
