On Friday Jenny Gilruth was officially nominated as the SNP's Parliamentary candidate for Mid Fife and Glenrothes, which includes Kinglassie, in the forthcoming Scottish Parliament elections.
Ms Gilruth celebrated on Saturday with a mass day of action alongside Leven MP Stephen Gethins and Levenmouth councillors David Alexander and Alistair Hunter.
Ms Gilruth said: "My campaign to hold this seat for the SNP in Mid Fife and Glenrothes is really gathering momentum.
"People are responding positively because they know the SNP is the only party standing up to Tory austerity. I'm proud to campaign on our party's record in government over the past nine years.
"Tricia Marwick has served our constituency with distinction for the last 17 years and last week in Holyrood she spoke of passing the baton to the next generation. I very much hope that I am able to carry on the SNP's strong tradition in Mid Fife and Glenrothes on May 5."
Mr Gethins said: "Jenny is exactly the type of MSP we need in Mid Fife and Glenrothes. She's a Fifer, a teacher and former head of department, and she's proven her skills nationally in education. I think that sends a strong message to the next generation. Jenny has the experience to give this constituency the strong voice it deserves in Holyrood."
